Nashville, TN — November 8, 2024 — The Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) is proud to announce the winners of the Snapshot Poster Contest from the AMLE24 Annual Conference held in Nashville, Tennessee. This year’s contest, which featured nearly 70 innovative presentations, highlighted the creativity and dedication of middle school educators in addressing critical educational themes.
Winning Presentations:

1st Place: Kaity Haley for her presentation, “Charting the Course: Planning and Implementing Interdisciplinary Climate Justice Projects.” The presentation focused on the integration of climate justice into school curriculums, encouraging interdisciplinary approaches for a more sustainable future.

2nd Place: David Virtue, Preston Bisson, Madison Tramble, Joshua VanHook, Kaitlyn Lumpkin, and Aislinn Nunn for their presentation, “Dos and Don’ts of Building relationships with Young Adolescents: Advice from Older Adolescents.” The presentation provided an insightful look into effective strategies for fostering positive relationships with middle school students, based on direct feedback from older adolescents.

3rd Place: Jason Weiss, William Wilson, and Richard Wells for their presentation, “Students Learning Life Skills through Collaborative Thinking and Teamwork.” The presentation demonstrates how collaboration in education can be a vehicle for teaching essential life skills, enhancing students’ social and academic development.
The winning presentations were selected through a combination of pre-conference judging and attendee voting during the event. The presentations are now available for AMLE members to view in the AMLE Mini-PD Library, offering an opportunity for continuous professional development through these exemplary works.

The Snapshot Poster Contest at AMLE24 serves as a platform for educators to share innovative practices, research, and strategies that impact middle level education through pre-recorded 10-minute presentations. With the theme revolving around enhancing student engagement, equity, and educational innovation, this contest encourages presenters to think creatively about their teaching methods and share them in a format that is both visually appealing and informative.
