Block? Traditional? Something in between? Perhaps one of the most wide-reaching decisions a school leader makes is that of the schedule. It truly affects everyone. AMLE sought to better understand how middle schools are using their master schedules to meet student needs by conducting a survey of its membership in December, 2024.
Survey Overview:
- Respondents: 163 unique schools across 10 countries and 38 states responded to the survey. The schools’ settings comprised 27% rural, 59% suburban, and 14% urban.
- School Size: School size was distributed as follows: 19% with less than 300 students, 29% with 300-600 students, 25% with 601-900 students, 17% with 901-1200 students, and 10% with more than 1200 students.
In addition to providing overall trends, responses were also segmented into three categories: Traditional Schedules, Block Schedules, and Modified Block Schedules.
