Structured Collaboration: A Path to Building Equitable and Confident Classroom Communities

Presenter: Ralph Covino

With formative years impacted by COVID and socialization and soft skill development occurring, increasingly, in the world dominated by screens, devices, and social media, today’s middle schoolers are often anxious when it comes to collaborative tasks. This poster will present the results of an Action Research project that sought to reduce both anxiety and grade-focus by creating a more formulaic course cadence rooted in explicit discussion and collaboration routines in a Humanities class.
