Stacking Cups to Simulate Conceptual Understanding: A Mathematical Activity
Presenter: James Fetterly
Concrete and iconic representations of mathematical situations are essential to understanding basic operations and algebraic thinking. They provide a foundation for students to develop more complex mathematical ideas and apply them to solve real-world problems. This session will help middle school teachers develop concrete models of variables and apply them to teaching algebraic thinking.
